Welcome to the Spring 2021 edition of our newsletter. After a year of uncertainty, we are all looking forward to a more positive year. In April we formally welcome our Vine colleagues into the Fisher German family providing a stronger Commercial Property Management service.
There are also two significant pieces of legislation impacting the property market this year, the Agricultural Bill and the Environment Bill which are likely to set clear markers for both habitat protection and carbon reduction. For more information see the Natural Capital link below.
With the vaccine rollout well underway, we look forward to restrictions easing and increased face to face interactions with all our clients.

Welcome to the Winter edition of our newsletter and a very Happy New Year to you. In this quarter's edition our Regional Head of Property Sales, Matthew Allen, provides a helpful property market update and Will Taylor updates us on the challenges facing farmers in the 2015 agricultural year. For those interested in diversifying out of agriculture and perhaps into some form of renewable energy, we also include an update from our Sector Head Darren Edwards, who warns that 2016 is going to be a challenging year following severely cut feed-in tariffs. Darren is supported regionally by Hywel Morse, so please feel free to contact either of them directly should you wish to discuss your options further.
Permitted Development Rights for conversion of redundant agricultural buildings into residential use have caused both elation and confusion since their introduction and accordingly Amy Hutsby of our Banbury office writes about where we are now, whilst our HS2 expert Jonathan Perks brings us up to date with the latest HS2 news. We round up with our Meet The Team section which provides links to our Thame and Banbury contact pages as well as reporting on Will's recent success with his professional exams - Well done to Will, we're very proud to have you on board!

Welcome to the Autumn edition of our newsletter keeping you up to date with all things Fisher German. Since our Summer newsletter our Office Partner, Stephen Rutledge, has cycled the length of the country raising money for children charities, he might have been a little saddle sore but the trip was a huge success. Meanwhile, Will Taylor has been competing with Thame Town Cricket Club, see below for a report on their cow shot successes along the crease. We are thrilled to be welcoming our newest recruit, Isabel Bingham, who joins our team as a graduate surveyor. To find out more about Isabel and her adventures in Kenya during the summer read her article Shamba Shake Up. Virginia O'Sullivan, our Residential Sales Negotiator is going to take prospective house sellers through a checklist to help prepare a house for sale and, on a more sober note, Josie Palmer provides you with a reminder about the new rules and regulations relating to Carbon Monoxide alarms and Smoke detectors in let properties.
We have had a fantastic summer, attending the Thame Sheep Fair and The Bucks County Show, where Stephen was proud to be able to present the Rothschild Challenge Trophy to the Limousin Breed Champion.
An Autumn chill is certainly in the air so, with wood fires burning and the prospect of darker nights our thoughts are turning to our Fisher German Thame Christmas Drinks party. The date is now set for Wednesday 9th December, so do put it in your diaries, and we look forward to welcoming you to our office at 17 High Street, Thame, for festive refreshments from 5pm until 7pm.

Welcome to our Post-Election Rural Newsletter
With the Election now behind us and Cameron in Downing Street looking ahead with a new Government to a further five year term, our Consultant Harry Cottrell gives us his view on the events of last week and how the Conservatives may look to deliver their Manifesto promises. Few predicted a Majority win, but with the majority now in place the Conservatives will get straight down to business. Crucially this means a European Referendum, the result of which will be of great significance to UK agriculture.
Following the Election, there has been an immediate strengthening of the Pound and the UK Gilt market, reflecting global confidence in the UK economy, with this backdrop and with interest rates still at an historically low level, Struan McDougall will be talking about whether this is a good time to consider your financial arrangements.
We hope that you find this publication of interest. If you need further information, or would like to know more about our rural services, please contact one of our rural team.

Fisher German has a well-earned reputation for providing first-class property advice to clients across Cheshire, Staffordshire and districts to the north and west. We are delighted to announce that our teams of specialists based in Chester, Knutsford and Stafford have now been boosted by the arrival of a highly experienced town planner.
Mark Herbert, who has a successful track-record within the public sector and with other leading firms over almost thirty years, will operate out of all three offices to provide a highly localised planning service. Until now, the area has been well served by our planning team based centrally at Ashby de la Zouch, but as Hugh Maxfield, Office Partner at the Knutsford office, notes “the introduction of a senior planner dedicated to serving our patch can only be welcomed by both existing and new clients.”
Mark joined the firm late last year and has already developed a good working relationship with several large estates, farmers, and individual landowners assessing and progressing development opportunities for their land and buildings.
Any proposals to secure planning permission for all types of development within the open countryside, or to optimise potential value by converting agricultural buildings, are likely to benefit from Mark’s knowledge of the complex and ever-changing planning system. If you have land or built assets that you think could be put to more useful or valuable use, Mark would be delighted to have a discussion with you.
For an initial free consultation please contact Mark on 07468 860082 or email mark.herbert@fishergerman.co.uk
