Kidscan was Fisher German's first firmwide charity of the year in 2017-18. During the year, we raised funds in a variety of wild and wonderful ways including pimbledon, quiz nights, FGBay auction, weight loss competition, tombolas and cake sales.

We met with Emma Pawluk from Kidscan and deputy Managing Partner, Tim Shuldham, handed over the final cheque for &6,911.80.

Emma said:  'An amount like your amazing total could go towards research such as our Methionine project in which we have demonstrated how manipulation of the amino acid methionine can affect the proliferation of cancer cells, as well as helping to discover a way of allowing healthy cells to take charge of cancerous cells. Thank you so much for raising such an incredible amount.'

Kidscan aims to improve current childhood cancer treatments, develop new targeted treatments and use their research base to influence policy to overcome the obstacles to the introduction of new and existing drugs to clinicians with the ultimate goal of curing all children diagnosed with cancer.

August

The Central Operations Group moved into a purpose built office in Ashby close to the Estates Office at Ivanhoe business park, bringing all business support functions together for the first time. The brand new building was occupied by the team as of 6 August 2018.

In the past the COG operations were split between Market Harborough and Ashby, but this opportunity means that for the first time the finance and marketing teams can sit alongside the HR, IT and central administration teams in the same location.

Given the close working relationships that exist between these teams, it is expected that the firm will derive significant benefits from the move.

November

It was another great night in London for Fisher German at the 2018 RICS Young Surveyor of the Year Awards on Friday 30 November 2018 with four worthy entrants shortlisted across three categories.

Our nominees were:

Will Bostock – Asset and Facilities Management

Darren Edwards – Project Management

Abby McKay-Hipwell – Land (Rural and Urban)

Rachel Kirk – Land (Rural and Urban)

The awards are judged on the individual's achievements in their career, the client service they provide and their contribution to the profession. This is a clear demonstration of the quality of colleagues we have at Fisher German and a personal testament to each of the individual’s passion in what they do.

Many congratulations to Rachel Kirk from our Chester office who won the Land (Rural and Urban) category. This was very well deserved and she beat strong competition to take this award.

Rachel said: “I was thrilled to be shortlisted but to have won is just fantastic.  Thank you very much to Fisher German for putting me forward and to my referee for his comments.  It was a great evening”.
